Earlier today it was revealed that the name for the Atlanta based rugby team to compete in the 2020 season of Major League Rugby would be called ‘Rugby ATL’.
Rugby ATL will join New England Free Jacks and Old Glory DC as the additional three teams to compete in the MLR starting in 2020 in what will be the third season of the league. This will bring the league up to 12 teams after RUNY joined the league starting the 2019 season.
Rugby ATL have stated that they will reveal franchise details such as where their stadium will be located and scheduling announcements, along with logos at a later date. The franchise is said to “represent the South,” as the only team within a six-state region. Read more about it here.
