Utah Warriors Vs Seattle Seawolves
Utah Warriors suffered a heavy defeat last week to the Toronto Arrows in what was the performance of the season so far. The Arrows scored a remarkable 9 tries thus breaking the record for total points scored in an MLR game. The Warriors did come back from 19-0 down in the opening 15 minutes to being within a score of Toronto at half time but in reality this is one to right off for the Warriors and start from scratch.
The Seawolves travel to Utah on the back of a bruising encounter last week to San Diego Legion which saw them lose 22-28 in what was only their third loss of the season. The Seawolves will be hurt from last week’s defeat but not damaged. The Seawolves welcome back full back Mat Turner who has been out injured for the past 3 weeks. Turner marked his return with a splendid solo try agains the Legion. If deemed fit enough to start Turner could cause the Warriors a lot of trouble.
Prediction: Seattle Seawolves
Glendale Raptors VsHouston SaberCats
The Raptors had a fantastic win of their own last week over the league leaders NOLA Gold. Glendale Raptors backs were buzzing all game with scrum-half Shaun Davies pulling the strings and keeping the play ticking over. The Raptors also showed they have a reliable bench with Luke White and Malon Al-Jiboori both having huge impacts when they came on last week.
Houston SaberCats had a week off last week so will be hoping the rest will catch Glendale Raptors out. The SaberCats saw out their last game at Constellation Field in a great win over Utah Warriors with out-half Sam Windsor having a great game, scoring at total of 19 points in their win over the Warriors.
Glendale will need to keep their discipline as Windsor will punish them, given his current kicking form.
Prediction: Glendale Raptors
Toronto Arrows Vs NOLA Gold
The Arrows start their first of 8 straight home games against the league leaders NOLA Gold. The Arrows had a phenomenal display agains the Utah Warriors in which they ran in 9 tries. The Arrows forwards put in a great shift against the Warriors and as a result three of them made the MLR team of the week.
NOLA Gold lost their second game of the season last week to the Glendale Raptors. NOLA Gold never really recovered from Glendale’s blistering start and is something they will need to address as Austin Elite Rugby also ran them pretty close the week before.
NOLA Gold won the first encounter between the pair back in January by a single score, this game could prove to be just as tight.
Prediction: Toronto Arrows
San Diego Legion Vs Austin Elite Rugby
San Diego Legion played their best game of the season last week against the Seattle Seawolves. The Legion showed an intensity in their defensive line speed and aggression in the tackle that had not been seen in their game prior to last week.
Paddy Ryan showed incredible leadership on the field and his scrummaging set the platform for the game. With 13 tackles to his name last week, the Legion will be hoping for another powerful performance from the Australian.
Austin Elite Rugby do look to have turned a corner since their impressive performance against NOLA Gold and at times played well against RUNY last week but that first win still eludes them.
Unfortunately for the Elite, they are meeting San Diego Legion on the back of their best game of the season. Grabbing their first win of the season could be a tough ask away to an in form San Diego Legion side.
Prediction: San Diego Legion
