The New England Free Jacks have just announced the signing of Canterbury center Sam Beard. Beard will join up with the Free Jacks for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Most recently Beard has played with Canterbury in the Mitre 10 Cup, however he also brings with him experience playing in Super Rugby and the Pro 14 with the Crusaders and Dragons and Edinburgh.
In the 2018 season, he played all 12 regular season games for the 2018 Canterbury side, helping guide the squad to the premiership final against Auckland where they were narrowly beaten. 2018 proved to be a good year for Beard as he also made his debut for Super Rugby’s Crusaders in the team’s international fixture against a touring French Barbarians squad.
Beard will join up with the squad and fellow new signing Kensuke Hatakeyama for the commencement of pre-season training
this December.
